Kaizer Chiefs continued their strong run of form with a comfortable 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy at FNB Stadium on Sunday, making it four consecutive wins in the Betway Premiership.
The result puts Chiefs firmly in control of the race for third place, a position that could secure qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup next season. In contrast, TS Galaxy continue to struggle in the league despite their progress to the Nedbank Cup final.
Chiefs took the lead in the first half through Flavio Silva, who ended his goal drought with a well-placed header from a precise cross by Mdu Shabalala. It was Silva’s sixth goal of the season, making him Chiefs’ top scorer this campaign.
The second goal came late in the match when Glody Lilepo showed strength and composure to finish a one-on-one opportunity after being played through by Sibongiseni Mthethwa, sealing all three points for the home side.
The match was briefly interrupted in the second half due to floodlight issues at FNB Stadium, followed by heavy rain that made conditions more difficult once play resumed. Despite the disruption, Chiefs maintained control and saw out the victory comfortably.
The win moves Chiefs three points clear of AmaZulu, with games in hand, giving them a strong advantage in the push for continental football next season.
