Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe has called on East African nations to maintain the high standards set by Morocco ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 2027 tournament will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, marking a historic first for the region. The competition is scheduled to run from June 19 to July 18 and will also celebrate AFCON’s 70th anniversary.

Motsepe praised Morocco for setting a new benchmark during the 2025 edition, highlighting world-class infrastructure, multiple host cities, and strong commercial success. He emphasized that the upcoming hosts must meet or even exceed those standards to ensure another successful tournament.

According to Motsepe, CAF is already working closely with the three nations to improve infrastructure and organisation. He also confirmed plans to visit Kenya to assess preparations and engage with key stakeholders, expressing confidence that East Africa can deliver a memorable competition.

The 2027 AFCON is expected to be a major milestone for football development in the region, coming shortly after the three countries successfully co-hosted the African Nations Championship, further boosting their readiness for the continent’s biggest football event.
