Roma are preparing a major move for Marseille forward Mason Greenwood as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to UEFA Champions League football next season.
The Italian giants have identified Greenwood as one of their top transfer targets and are reportedly ready to submit an initial offer worth €40 million, along with performance-related add-ons. The move comes as Roma aim to provide head coach Gian Piero Gasperini with the attacking firepower needed to compete both domestically and in Europe.
Having secured Champions League qualification for the first time in seven years, Roma are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer. Gasperini has reportedly highlighted the need for more attacking options after expressing concerns about squad depth during the previous campaign.

The potential transfer could also have major financial implications for Manchester United. When Greenwood left Old Trafford for Marseille, the Premier League club included a 40 percent sell-on clause in the agreement. As a result, any future transfer fee would generate a substantial payment for United.
