Nottingham Forest secured their place in the Europa League Round of 16 following a tense second-leg encounter against Fenerbahce at the City Ground. Holding a 3-0 lead from the first leg in Turkey, Forest faced an unexpected challenge as Kerem Akturkoglu scored twice to pull the aggregate score back to 3-2. However, Callum Hudson-Odoi eventually found the net in the 68th minute, extinguishing the comeback hopes of the Turkish giants and ensuring Forest progressed with a 4-2 aggregate victory despite a 2-1 defeat on the night.

Celtic’s European campaign came to an end in Stuttgart, though the Scottish champions left with a measure of historic pride. Trailing 4-1 after a disappointing first leg at home, Celtic struck immediately through Luke McCowan in the first minute to spark hopes of a sensational recovery. While they were unable to find the further goals required to overturn the deficit and lost 4-2 on aggregate, the 1-0 victory marked Celtic’s first-ever competitive win on German soil in 17 attempts.

Elsewhere, LOSC Lille advanced to the next round after a dramatic extra-time victory over Red Star Belgrade. Following a 1-0 loss in the first leg, former French international Olivier Giroud leveled the tie for the Ligue 1 side, before Nathan Ngoy struck the decisive winner in the additional period to secure a 2-1 aggregate triumph. Meanwhile, Celta Vigo confirmed their progression with a 1-0 win over PAOK, resulting in a 3-1 aggregate success that sees the Spanish side join the final 16 contenders.

The draw for the Round of 16 took place shortly after the conclusion of these matches, setting up several high-profile fixtures for March. Nottingham Forest are scheduled to face Spanish side Real Betis, who qualified directly as a seeded team. Stuttgart will move on to face Porto, while Aston Villa, another of the seeded English representatives, are slated to meet Celta Vigo. These matchups ensure a heavy presence for both the Premier League and La Liga as the competition enters its final stages.
