South Africa has revealed its new home colors for the 2026/27 season, featuring a design that pays homage to the country’s 12 official languages. The jersey, which retains the classic “Yellow and Green” palette, will make its competitive debut in just two weeks at the WAFCON 2026 in Morocco.
The launch comes at a pivotal moment for South African football. Banyana Banyana will lead the charge at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations later this month, while Bafana Bafana will don the kit in exactly 100 days when they face Mexico in the opening game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Design Philosophy: The “Unity” Pattern
While the 2010 jersey featured 11 lines on the collar to represent the national languages, the 2026 version evolves this into a subtle, woven graphic pattern across the entire fabric. This “Unity” pattern now reflects all 12 official languages, symbolizing the diverse voices of the “Rainbow Nation.”
“The jersey is more than match-day apparel – it is a unifying symbol… designed with bespoke gender fit considerations for both teams.” — Tom Brown, Senior Marketing Director, adidas SA.
Technical Innovation: CLIMACOOL+
Built for the intense heat of a North American summer and Moroccan stadiums, the “Authentic” version of the jersey features elite performance technology:
CLIMACOOL+: Uses 3D body mapping to target high-heat zones for maximum ventilation.
Lenticular Crest: A “shapeshifting” heat-applied federation badge that changes appearance based on the angle of light.
Engineered Stretch: Perforated three-stripe panels and mesh zones to enhance airflow during high-intensity play.
