South African football has received a massive financial injection as the South African Football Association (SAFA) officially confirmed a multi-year partnership with Standard Bank. Africa’s largest bank by assets becomes an official partner of Bafana Bafana, Banyana Banyana, and various grassroots national teams from 2026 and beyond.

The sponsorship comes at a defining moment for the nation, with Bafana Bafana preparing for their return to the global stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, and Banyana Banyana gearing up for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Investing in the “Green and Gold”
SAFA President Dr. Danny Jordaan hailed the deal as a pivotal investment in the competitiveness of national structures. Standard Bank’s Head of Sponsorships, Barend Hodnett, emphasized that the partnership aligns with the bank’s mission to drive Africa’s growth by supporting the aspirations of the football-loving community.
